Travel.

Transporting your pets overseas is often less expensive than you may have been led to believe. The reason for this is that many countries do not have any quarantine requirements and it's the quarantine charges, which also generally include blood tests and other Veterinary inspections, that push up the price of transporting pets.

Many people are also under the misapprehension that there is always a lot of time and effort involved in preparing pets to travel overseas - this is not always the case, simply let us know which pets you wish to transport, when and where to and we do the rest - leaving you free to concentrate on your human family - it's that simple. We would suggest that you browse through our site and see what Global Paws has to offer you and your four legged family.

Quarantine.

The more common countries which require that pets spend time in quarantine on arrival are - the U.K, Australia and New Zealand.

There have been numerous rumours that the quarantine requirements for pets to the U.K are going to be relaxed but unfortunately there is no truth to this rumour and we have had it on good authority that DEFRA will not be considering any relaxation of the 6 month quarantine requirement for pets from African countries until at least 2010. Another thing that people often don't realise however is that quarantine charges can be paid monthly whilst the pets are in quarantine and do not have to be paid up front.

For pets going to Australia there is a 7 month quarantine requirement. Pets can either be quarantined in South Africa for 6 months and then spend 1 month in quarantine in Australia or alternatively they can be quarantined in South Africa for 3 months and then spend 4 months in quarantine on arrival in Australia.

For pets going to New Zealand there is no quarantine required in South Africa. The process to send them however needs to be started a minimum of six months in advance and they then need to spend 4 months in quarantine on arrival in New Zealand.

The good news however is that pets can be visited whilst in quarantine in all three of the abovementioned countries and this certainly does make the whole process easier on both owners and pets.
